The Stinkhorn Mystery

While working in the garden I uncovered these pinkish "eggs." I knew they were some type of mushroom, but wasn't sure what kind exactly. In the lower photo, you can see one bursting open, much like in the movie "Alien," complete with green slime! I believe they are a type of stinkhorn. Waiting to see what they do...
